Methods of Application

Borates are applied directly to the wood, eliminating potential soil or water contamination (materials must be dry to be treated).

Borates are water soluble and can prevent infestation for many years.

Borate products are restricted use pesticides and can
only be applied by a
Branch Three operator.

Call us now for a free estimate and ask about our 5-year warranty on new construction (carpenter bees and horn tail wasps excluded).

Commercial and Residential Pre-treatment Information

If a consumer is building in an area with high concentrations of wood-destroying organisms, pre-treating the soil with a termiticide has always been recommended. It is required on many government and commercial buildings. However, wood treatment with boron-based wood preservatives like Boracare or Tim-bor are not only prudent but will soon be required in many areas around the country.

Treating the structure in framing stage of building with an octaborate solution is one of the most effective ways to preserve and protect a wood structure from fungus, carpenter ants, termites and other wood-destroying organisms in a less toxic manner.

Octaborates are designed to penetrate and protect all types of wood, including plywood, composites and engineered building products. Wood treatment will not effect painting, staining or gluing of the wood. Fasteners made of steel and other ferrous metals should last longer in borate-treated wood.

Boron (the active ingredient in all octaborates) is a common element that is toxic to many insects, decay fungi and some forms of bacteria. Borate treatment is suitable for new and existing construction.

Whenever Northwest Termite performs a "pre-construction" soil treatment or "Framing stage" borate treatment all materials are applied at a rate consistent with the label instructions and are not harmful to humans or animals. The label instructions will always be included with your report and estimate.
